The practice is based on the ground floor at Roath, Cardiff, just off the Newport Rd, approximately half a mile from the city centre.

Jackie specialises primarily in the treatment of musculo–skeletal ( muscles and joints) problems including the rehabilitation of these issues allowing a swift return back to work or your specific sport. Injuries treated will range from day to day spinal or muscular ailments,after surgical intervention,specific sporting injuries or movement pattern requirements.

With an active, healthy life style approach being advocated, people at both ends of the social and competitive spectrum may need help. Every individual who has experienced pain after an injury either through accident or simple aging ‘overload’ is as challenging and pleasing for Jackie to utilise her experience and extensive skills to personally assist you with recovery.

Biography

Jackie qualified as a Chartered Physiotherapist in 1986.  Previously she worked as a Physical Education Teacher in Birmingham, gaining her B.Ed degree from Anstey C.P.E and Birmingham University. Professional interests in sports medicine and human movement subsequently developed from experiences of personal injury and training through representing GB and Wales in the Javelin and also as a Welsh Netballer.

Jackie worked in the NHS for 12 years. As a Senior Physiotherapist in the main teaching hospital in South Wales she further developed the manual therapy standards in herself, the staff and students which she was responsible for training.

JackieIn 1998 Jackie became a private practitioner at ‘The Centre’ whilst still being involved with a multitude of international events/tournaments. The most memorable of these include being a member of the GB Olympic Medical Team in Barcelona 1992, Atlanta 1996, and Sydney 2000 plus the Paralympics in Athens 2006.    

Being based in Wales has allowed Jackie the honour of not only representing her country in Javelin and Netball but also in sharing her physiotherapy expertise with current Welsh athletes in the Commonwealth Games of Kuala Lumpur1998, Manchester 2002 and Melbourne2006.

Jackie ZaslonaContinuing with professional development included the MACP extensive postgraduate training course plus conferences, particularly in spinal manipulation, lower limb and shoulder rehabilitation.

As a qualified Sports Massage practitioner Jackie currently lectures for SPS Ltd, continuing her interest and specialism in soft tissue management.

Movement and performance have always been an integral part of the complete package offered by Jackie as part the treatment options.

Jackie is currently involved with Elphinston Performance as an assistant lecturer with the internationally known GOTB ™ and Performance Movement courses for Personal Trainers and Physiotherapists in Sweden.

Tai Chi

Tai Chi and Qigong is personally practised by Jackie as an adjunct to the understanding of Eastern philosophy and its approach to personal health and illness prevention.

Understanding one’s own body and appreciating how it reacts to daily stresses is an integral part of Jackie’s treatment philosophy.

Recognition and the correction of habitual postures can often lead to a swift reduction of painful symptoms. The maintenance of this is the daily challenge!
